Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV)
The mission of BEHIV was to improve the lives of people with HIV and AIDS through a comprehensive range of quality services, to inform the public about the virus and risk reduction behavior, and to increase understanding and compassion for people with HIV and AIDS.
Chicago House serves individuals and families who are disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ marginalization, poverty, homelessness, and/or gender nonconformity by providing housing, employment services, medical linkage and retention services, HIV prevention services, legal services and other supportive programs.
Howard Brown Health Center
HBHC is one of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations providing diverse health and social services.
Human Rights Campaign
The HRC promotes the social welfare of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. By inspiring and engaging individuals and communities, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT people and realize a world that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
Dogs enable us to tackle the serious issue of childhood literacy in a fun way, and test score results prove that SitStayRead improves reading skills for children!
Reading to a dog increases confidence and generates excitement about reading. These trained dogs, assisted by dog-themed books and writing assignments, change a child’s reading session from an abstract concept into a real life experience. Children get to read about a dog, see a dog, and touch a dog — an experience that leads to true and lasting learning.

The Animal Welfare League is committed to helping every pet find a good home. Their motto is “recovery is the answer, not euthanasia” for animals who are injured, neglected, or abused.

Chicago Animal Care & Control
Chicago Animal Care and Control is equipped with a complete medical complex, full laboratory, radiology and surgical capabilities for the care of its animals and the Chicago Police Canine Unit.
Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation
CCRF helps find permanent, loving homes for the homeless dogs and cats that are too old, too young, too injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue
CBBR is the oldest and largest breed specific rescue specializing in pitbulls and other bully breeds.
Found Chicago was initiated by the kindhearted individuals behind Stay, a modern dog hotel. Their compassionate hearts and determination to give refuge to homeless dogs began Found Chicago.
Chicagoland Dog Rescue
CDR is a shelterless rescue helping dogs that suffer at the hands of cruel or ignorant owners, owner give-aways, or those that are homeless
D.A.W.G. Dog Advocacy
Dog Advisory Work Group is a unique coalition working together to help communities improve the overall coexistence of dogs, dog guardians and non-dog guardians.
Evanston Animal Shelter C.A.R.E.
