HAPPY NEW YEAR! Looking Back & Moving Forward
This time of year often breeds reflection - the winding down from holiday bustle, the renewed urge to make resolutions, the realization that it really is winter (and will be for many more months) so we better just hunker down and get over it - these all conspire to give us pause. Now that our busiest time of year at the Studios has passed, and I have a little time to breathe, I realize how lucky I am. Despite the wacky economy, tumultuous times for employment, snow, ice, and the winter blues, I still have one of the best jobs in the world. I am privileged to be able to share in a small way in the lives of so many families - to watch couples in love; parents laughing with their children; animals bringing joy to their people; celebrations at the beginning and ending of life - all right here at the Studios. You keep coming and I keep finding more images that make me smile, or cry, or both at the same time. So, thank you! I'll keep the lights on for you. We had the privilege of spending a couple of days at the Inn at Union Pier in Union Pier, Michigan over the break. So what does a photographer do on vacation? This one takes pictures - just not of dogs. The low-flying winter sun slicing through windows and shades provided a lot of opportunities to explore hard, side-lit subjects like the guitar. You can catch more Pictures of the Week on our blog, Pith & Vinegar. Happy New Year! David Sutton Write to David |
